The House passed House Resolution 82, the Social Security Fairness Act of 2023, on Tuesday, Nov. 12. H.R. 82 aims to eliminate two provisions in the United States, including the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and the Government Pension Offset (GPO).

A bill intended to provide enhanced Social Security benefits for public service workers was approved by the House on Tuesday.

The legislation would eliminate the Windfall Elimination Provision and the Government Pension Offset sections of the Social Security law that curb the benefits for about 2.8 million public employees nationwide,
