Eversource announced new gas rate cuts after pressure from state officials. This also comes after many western Massachusetts residents had concerns about their recent electric and gas bills. Eversource offered a ten percent decrease in one of the gas delivery charges for the next two months.

Eversource and National Grid, Massachusetts’ largest energy companies, proposed 10 percent cuts to gas bill delivery rates on Monday, after the Department of Public Utilities ordered gas companies to lower total gas bills by at least 5 percent last week.

The state’s two biggest utilities said Monday they will reduce gas bills for the next two months, but recoup the costs later this year.

Eversource says it will cut gas bills in Massachusetts for March and April, and recoup the costs in the summer months. WBZ-TV's David Wade reports.
