EDT on Saturday, the National Weather Service released a severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 1 p.m. EDT for Alcona County.

DENVER — A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for the Denver metro area until 2:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. Locations impacted include Denver, Lakewood, Golden, Arvada, Broomfield, Thornton, Commerce City, and western Aurora.

Damaging winds and hail so large it could cause injury to people and animals and damage buildings was expected with the storms.
