Yunus said in the interview Bangladesh's interim government has established several commissions for reforms in the electoral system, constitution and judiciary.

Sheikh Hasina lashed out at the interim Bangladeshi govt and accused Muhammad Yunus while speaking virtually at an Awami League event in New York. She fled the country on August 5 this year after the days of violence.

In a recent virtual address to her political party, former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina accused Muhammad Yunus, of orchestrating mass killings and inciting attacks on religious minorities.

Sheikh Hasina, addressing an event in New York virtually, slammed Muhammad Yunus for the string of attacks on temples, churches and the religious outfit Iskcon in Bangladesh.

The 84-year-old Nobel laureate, in an interview with Nikkei Asia, said, "We need comprehensive reforms in the economy, governance, bureaucracy and judiciary (before holding elections)."

The relations between the two neighbours have deteriorated ever since the ouster of Sheikh Hasina as prime minister in August with India expressing concern over Hindus and other minorities being targeted in Bangladesh and aggravated further with the arrest of the Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das last week.
