A “massive” Russian missile and drone attack has targeted power infrastructure across Ukraine, the country’s energy minister German Galushchenko has said. It is the largest such assault since early September, with reports of several explosions across Ukraine, according to authorities and local media.

Polish and allied aircraft have begun operations in Polish airspace in response to a large-scale Russian attack involving cruise and ballistic missiles, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles, targeting sites in western Ukraine.

The attack came as fears are mounting about Moscow’s intentions to devastate Ukraine’s energy capacity before winter.
