Max Verstappen believes Red Bull’s 2025 F1 car represents a step forward. Red Bull were hampered by poor mid-season development and balance issues with their RB20 but despite slipping to third place in the constructors’ championship, Verstappen was still able to clinch a fourth successive drivers’ title.

Max Verstappen has conceded that Red Bull failed to get the results they were looking for when they upgraded their RB20 car last year. The Dutchman eventually secured his fourth consecutive world championship title after a battle with Lando Norris at the business end of the campaign.

Liam Lawson will rightly see his promotion to Red Bull as a dream come true - a seat in one of Formula 1's top teams after starting just 11 grands prix - but being paired with Max Verstappen can also be the stuff of nightmares.

Max Verstappen seems happy so far with the feeling he is getting in the RB21, but the Dutchman does caution his team, because last year during winter testing, there were also lots of positives that did not come true in 2024.
