In Pasco County, emergency responders made almost 200 rescues overnight after Hurricane Helene battered Florida's Gulf coast. Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco said highwater vehicles and first responders pushed through rising waters to pull people from their homes.

County officials asked people who live outside the boundaries of the evacuation order to also consider evacuating or moving into one of the county's six shelters.

The Pasco County Commission is holding an emergency meeting to consider a local state of emergency for Tropical Storm Helene.

Hillsborough County officials are discussing the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. In the press conference Friday morning, officials said they had five vehicles sink and six structure fires over an 8-hour period.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and various officials addressed the public ahead of Hurricane Helene’s landfall. Helene continues to strengthen as it moves through the southern Gulf of Mexico and further strengthening is expected.
