Major League Baseball's 2024 awards season is underway and, Monday night, MLB and the Baseball Writers Association of America revealed the top three finalists for each of the four major awards. Those are Rookie of the Year,

Ohtani would become the first primary DH to win an MVP award. The top three finishers in voting for each of the major individual awards presented annually by the Baseball Writers' Association of America were announced Monday night on MLB Network.

Ohtani would also become the 12th player in history to win at least three MVP awards. Yogi Berra, Joe DiMaggio, Roy Campanella, Jimmie Foxx, Mickey Mantle, Albert Pujols, Stan Musial, Mike Trout, Alex Rodriguez and Mike Schmidt also won three MVPs. Only one player has won more — Barry Bonds (seven).
