The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration hit Ford with the second-largest civil penalty in its history, saying the automaker failed to recall vehicles in a timely manner.

Ford (NYSE:F) ran into more issues with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”) and was hit with a $165M fine after the regulator found that the company delayed a recall of more than 620K vehicles and gave consumers inaccurate information regarding a faulty rear camera.

Ford has agreed to pay $165m civil penalty following a US government investigation that concluded the company failed to recall vehicles with defective rearview cameras. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the penalty, which includes a three-year consent order.
