Thick smoke was spotted billowing from the roof of a luxury apartment building in Manhattan's Hudson Yards. Approximately 80 firefighters responded to the blaze, which started in the building’s mechanical room. The situation has been fully contained. The fire marshal is investigating the fire’s cause.
The record-breaking statistics come as several Northeast states battle extremely dry conditions and multiple wildfires.
New York City has had over 230 brush fires since Oct. 29, after its driest month since record-keeping began in 1869.
