Las Vegas saw dust and wind storms that led to power outages on July 1. Clark County has opened up cooling centers and an emergency shelter.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Snapping power poles fell on top of cars in the Las Vegas Valley, trapping several cars underneath for hours. FOX5 obtained exclusive video of the power poles falling like dominos along Jones Blvd before crashing on top of a drivers’ car on Tuesday afternoon.

The first significant surge of monsoonal moisture across southern Nevada on Tuesday led to what amounted to be chaos across the valley as near-hurricane force wind gusts toppled trees, damaged powerlines and was linked to at least one fire that killed several animals.
