After days of Republican drama, the House on Thursday passed President Donald Trump's sweeping tax cut and spending bill.Trump helped Speaker Mike Johnson pressure GOP holdouts into flipping their no votes to allow the measure to go forward in time to meet the president's self-imposed July Fourth deadline.

The Republican package would slash taxes, boost spending on immigration enforcement and the military, and impose steep cuts to Medicaid, SNAP and clean energy funding.

President Trump is expected to sign the so-called "big, beautiful bill" in a ceremony on Friday at the White House to coincide with the July 4 holiday.It comes after the House approved the measure on Thursday.
