Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former union minister Raosaheb Danve said the party has finalised the name of the Maharashtra chief ministerial face and it is awaiting approval from the party’s senior leadership. Danve said everyone knows who the next CM will be and it will be formally announced once the party’s senior leadership approves.

NCP Chief Ajit Pawar confirmed the decision for the BJP to lead Maharashtra's government, while the Mahayuti alliance faces delays. As caretaker CM Eknath Shinde deals with health issues, the oath-taking ceremony is set for December 5 with Prime Minister Modi in attendance.

Amid ongoing suspence over CM’s post, a BJP leader claimed that Mahayuti alliance’s new government in Maharashtra will be formed on December 5 with Devendra Fadnavis emerging as the frontrunner to become the next chief minister.

Without naming Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule has said ‘the chief minister will be the one which you are already expecting’.

However, despite the election results being announced on November 23, no official decision has been made regarding the chief minister. Following the results, Shinde, Fadnavis, and Pawar met with BJP President JP Nadda and Union Minister Amit Shah on November 28 to finalise a power-sharing agreement for the new government.

The Mahayuti alliance will form a new government in Maharashtra on December 5. Devendra Fadnavis is the frontrunner for the chief minister post. The BJP emerged as the largest party in recent assembly polls.

A key Mahayuti meeting scheduled on Friday was put off and likely to take place on Sunday now as caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde headed to his native village in Satara district, delaying government formation further.
