Dobbins returned from injury to finish strong over the Chargers’ final two wins of the season, rushing for 76 and 63 yards in victories that secured the No. 5 seed in the NFL playoff bracket. But he appeared to tweak an ankle late in the final game—and the Chargers have since signed Ezekiel Elliott in free agency .

Another injury has slowed J.K. Dobbins, but it won’t keep him out of the Los Angeles Chargers’ playoff opener. Dobbins is officially active to for the Bolts’ Wild Card Weekend showdown with the host Houston Texans on Saturday.
The Chargers will have several of their key questionable players available for Saturday’s postseason opener against the Texans.
Elliott is reportedly being signed to the Chargers' practice squad, but "with the hope" that he can get up to speed quickly with the playoffs looming. Los Angeles, which is set to face Houston in the first round of the playoffs, already has a pair of veteran running backs in its backfield, but Elliott will add some depth to Jim Harbaugh's squad.

But the gamble has paid off. Though Dobbins was dinged by a knee injury this season that landed him on injured reserve for four games, he has put together a terrific season that has him sitting at 842 yards rushing and nine touchdowns going into the last game of the season.
J.K. Dobbins’ return has bolstered the run game. The Chargers are averaging 121.8 yards and 4.1 yards per carry with Dobbins in the lineup compared with the 74.8 yards per game and 3.6 yards per carry during the four games he missed because of a knee injury.
