Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will miss the party's scheduled campaign rallies in Haryana on Monday after being advised to rest. Kharge was expected to address election rallies in Ambala city and Gharaunda.

Congress has managed to persuade its Haryana leaders Kumari Selja and Randeep Surjewala to join the campaign for the October 5 assembly elections. Both leaders had been sidelined by Bhupinder Singh Hooda in ticket distribution.

Kumari Selja, a prominent Dalit leader, was missing from the party's campaign, prompting Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to invite her to join the BJP.

Selja told The Indian Express that she very much remained “an aspirant for the CM’s post” if the Congress wins.
