The central government on Thursday informed the Parliament that several incidents of desecration and damage to Hindu temples and deities in Bangladesh have been reported in the past few months, adding that India has expressed its concern over the incidents and called on Bangladesh to ensure safety of Hindus and their places of worship.

Shiv Sena members protested in Jammu against the violence targeting Hindus in Bangladesh. They burned an effigy and the flag of Bangladesh. The protesters demanded Prime Minister Modi's intervention to protect Hindus.

Ministry of external affairs has voiced serious concerns over escalating attacks on Hindu temples in Bangladesh, including the bombing of a Durga Puja pandal and the theft of a sacred artifact. The MEA urged the Bangladeshi government to protect its minorities following the arrest of a prominent Hindu priest amid rising political instability.
