Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán says his country always has and always will defend itself against foreign attacks in response to controversial statements by one of his closest aides suggesting Hungary wouldn’t have fought against a Russian invasion as Ukraine has done.

A top aide of Prime Minister Viktor Orban has triggered outrage by suggesting that Hungary would have fared better by not resisting the 1956 Soviet invasion, in comments that were also critical of Ukraine's efforts today to push back Russian forces.
