Washington Nationals outfielder James Wood accepted an invitation to the Home Run Derby on Thursday afternoon. He then celebrated with a five-hit performance in an 11-7 win against the Detroit Tigers that established a new piece of franchise history.

James Wood had five hits that included his 23rd home run, Paul DeJong added a three-run blast and the Washington Nationals hung on to defeat the Detroit Tigers 11-7 on Thursday night, taking the rubber game of the series.
