A new wildfire was reported today at 12:31 p.m. in San Diego County. Springs 8 Fire has been burning on private land. There is currently no information on the containment of the fire and its cause remains undetermined.

Starting on Monday, the county’s Goodwill stores will now open for business one hour earlier every day — at 9 a.m. On Sundays, hours will also be extended later into the evening, closing now at 7 p.m. instead of 6 p.m.

Turns out, the antelope squirrel is one of the most common mammals seen in the Anza-Borrego Desert area, and easily identified by a white stripe along the side and short, rounded ears. This is a desert dweller, not commonly found west of the mountains that form the rim of the desert basin.
