However, soon after opening they erased gains and traded flat as HDFC Bank and L&T weighed. At pre-open, Nifty 50 was at 26248.25, up 0.12% or 32.20 points and Sensex was at 85893.84, up 0.07% or 57.72 points.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a positive start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 26,340 level, a premium of nearly 30 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

Trent Limited shares surged over 4% to RS 7,939 in morning trade on September 26, marking a bullish start on the bourses. The stock’s rise followed Citi’s initiation of coverage with a ‘buy’ recommendation, citing strong growth triggers ahead for the company.

In the opening bell on Friday, the 30-share BSE Sensex registered a marginal gain of 26 points to 85,877. Meanwhile, the Nifty was up by 7.85 points to 26,223.

The S P BSE Sensex ended 264.27 points lower at 85,571.85, while the NSE Nifty50 settled 37.10 points lower at 26,178.95.

The Indian stock market benchmarks, Sensex and Nifty 50, reached new all-time highs, rising nearly one per cent. Key contributors included automakers like Mahindra and Mahindra, Maruti, and Tata Motors.

From the 30 Sensex firms, Titan, IndusInd Bank, Tata Steel, Infosys, Asian Paints, Tata Consultancy Services, Hindustan Unilever, Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies and NTPC were the biggest gainers.

On Friday, Indian equity benchmark indices BSE Sensex and Nifty50 maintained their upward momentum. Infosys, TCS, and Sun Pharma emerged as top gainers. Meanwhile, financial indices such as Nifty Bank and Nifty Financial Services ended slightly lower.
