Three cases remain before the U.S. Supreme Court. One was brought by St. Louis County prosecutors, who do not support Williams’ conviction or upcoming execution.

A Missouri man has been executed for the 1998 fatal stabbing of a woman despite calls by her family and the prosecutor’s office that put him on death row to let him serve out the rest of his life in prison.

The State of Missouri carried out the execution of Marcellus Williams on Tuesday. According to the Missouri Department of Corrections, Williams’ last meal was served at 10:53 a.m. and included chicken wings and tater tots.
