A former Hudson Valley prosecutor and judge died by suicide Tuesday morning at his home as the FBI closed in to arrest him on bribery charges. Stewart Rosenwasser, a prosecutor in Orange County until June, shot at FBI agents from his home in Campbell Hall before turning the gun on himself, sources told the Albany Times-Union.

A former leader in the Orange County prosecutor’s office, who was facing allegations of accepting bribery payments, died in a shooting at his home Tuesday morning as the FBI arrived to arrest him, sources familiar with the matter tell NBC New York.

The former Orange County judge and assistant district attorney was under federal investigation and faced bribery allegations stemming from an embezzlement case
