OpenAI’s official press account on X appears to have been compromised by the same cryptocurrency scammers who did the same with company leadership in previous months.

OpenAI said one of its accounts on X was compromised on Monday, when an unauthorized individual sent out posts soliciting users to click through to a crypto token falsely claiming to be related to the artificial intelligence startup.

OpenAI’s account on X was hacked, leading to unauthorized posts about a fake crypto token. The company said it is investigating the incident, which follows previous account takeovers involving its employees and fraudulent posts related to crypto.

OpenAI’s Newsroom account made a post advertising an OpenAI-themed crypto token and pointed to a sketchy website.
