Tuesday marked the official start of NHL free agency. The Boston Bruins made several moves as they hope to improve from a disappointing 2024-25 season. The Bruins missed the postseason last year and ended up with the No. 7 pick in the NHL Draft. Boston used that pick to select center James Hagens out of Boston College.

NHL free agency begins at noon Tuesday, and some big names are likely to sign with new teams. The Bruins have already re-signed a handful of players ahead of free agency, including inking a six-year, $33 million contract with forward Morgan Geekie on Sunday.

The Boston Bruins' clear goal in free agency this year should be to improve their forward group. They are in a position to do some spending, as they have $12 million of cap space to work with.
